WeEngage for Microsoft Teams

How to add WeEngage in Microsoft Teams, use it as a personal tab and inside a meeting, remove the app, and fix common problems.

Adding WeEngage to Teams

Install from the Teams Store

  1. In Teams, click Apps in the left rail, search for WeEngage, and click Add.
  2. WeEngage opens as a personal tab showing the sign-in screen. Sign in, or click Sign up to create an account — new accounts start on a free trial with no card needed. Signing up emails you a 6-digit code to confirm your address; enter it on the next screen. It is a code rather than a link so you never have to leave the Teams tab to finish.

The personal tab works on desktop, web, and the Teams mobile app. It is your dashboard: create and schedule sessions, review past ones, and manage your account. When you schedule a session for a Teams meeting, pick the same date, time, and time zone as the meeting invite — the time zone starts as wherever you are now, so change it if the meeting is set in a different zone. The session then waits under Upcoming Sessions until you start it.

If your organization’s Teams admin restricts apps, you may see Request instead of Add. Teams sends the request to your admin; once approved, come back and add it.

Using WeEngage in a meeting

Attach WeEngage to the meeting first

A meeting tab belongs to one meeting. An organizer or presenter attaches it once, from Teams on desktop or web (the mobile app can open meeting tabs but cannot add them). After that it is available to everyone in that meeting on every device. For a recurring meeting, do this once for the series.

Either of these works:

  1. Before the meeting: open the meeting in your Teams Calendar, click the + next to the tabs at the top, choose WeEngage, and click Save.
  2. During the meeting: click Apps in the meeting toolbar, choose WeEngage, and click Save.

This works in scheduled meetings (including a two-person meeting with video), scheduled channel meetings, Meet now meetings, and calls started from a chat. Teams does not offer meeting apps in end-to-end encrypted calls, instant channel meetings, or meetings in shared channels; for those, open the WeEngage personal tab or a browser window alongside the call instead. If a one-to-one call grows into a group call, Teams starts a new session and the tab has to be added again.

Run the session from the side panel

  1. In the meeting, open the WeEngage tab from the toolbar. On a phone, tap (More) and look under Apps.
  2. Sign in. Your dashboard appears in the side panel.
  3. Start a session: click Create New Session, or resume one from Active Sessions or start one from Upcoming Sessions. When you create it, the Meeting Context box (your “why we’re meeting” note, which participants see) has B, I, List, and Link buttons — handy for a short agenda or a link to a pre-read. Then share the join code or link in the meeting chat. Participants go to weengage.app/join on any device — they do not need the Teams app or a WeEngage account.
  4. Run the session exactly as in a browser. The full User Guide covers every question type, chat, the whiteboard, and AI insights.

Removing WeEngage

From a meeting, or from Teams entirely

  • From one meeting: an organizer or presenter opens the meeting on desktop or web, right-clicks the WeEngage tab (or opens its menu), and chooses Remove.
  • From your account: click Apps in the left rail, then Manage your apps, find WeEngage, and choose Remove.

Removing the app from Teams does not delete your WeEngage account or sessions. To delete your account itself, open your profile from the dashboard sidebar or email support@weengage.app.

Troubleshooting

WeEngage doesn’t show up in my meeting

Almost always one of three things:

  • It has not been attached to this meeting yet. Meeting tabs are per meeting; ask the organizer or a presenter to add it from desktop or web.
  • You joined from the mobile app. Phones can open the tab once it is attached, but cannot attach it.
  • It is an end-to-end encrypted call, an instant channel meeting, or a meeting in a shared channel, where Teams does not offer meeting apps at all.

The panel is blank or keeps loading

Update Teams to the current version and reopen the tab. If you are on a work account, confirm with your Teams admin that WeEngage is allowed by the organization’s app policy.

I can’t sign in

Use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen to reset it by email, or Recover account if you no longer have access to that inbox. Still stuck? Email support with the address you used.
